HOWIE TSUI

Vancouver-based artist Howie Tsui (Tsui Ho Yan / 徐浩恩) was born in Hong Kong and raised in Lagos, Nigeria and Thunder Bay. He holds a BFA (2002) from the University of Waterloo and received the Joseph Stauffer Prize (2005) from the Canada Council for most outstanding young artist. His work is in the public collections of the National Gallery of Canada, Canada Council Art Bank, Vancouver Art Gallery, Ottawa Art Gallery, City of Ottawa and Centre d'exposition de Baie-Saint-Paul. Solo exhibitions: Vancouver Art Gallery, Carleton University Art Gallery, Agnes Etherington Art Centre (Kingston), Montréal arts interculturels, Centre A (Vancouver), AceArtInc (Winnipeg), Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba, Gallery 101 (Ottawa). Group exhibitions: Para Site (Hong Kong), Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, National Gallery of Canada, Art Labor (Shanghai), West Vancouver Museum, Oakville Galleries, Ottawa Art Gallery, Doris McCarthy Gallery, Dalhousie Art Gallery, Arena 1 Gallery (LA), Jaime Torres Bodet Cultural Center (Mexico City), MOHS (Copenhagen), Boston University School of Fine Arts and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
